Off To The Vet, Again!

A sad Miss Molly

A sad Miss Molly

Our Saint Bernard, Molly (Good Golly Miss Molly!) has been under the weather.  It started with a loss of appetite and she acted restless.  Then, she started crying off and on.  My son and I checked her over and found nothing outwardly wrong.  We thought that maybe it was because we had a long stretch of rain and she wasn’t getting her usual exercise.  This big gal NEEDS her exercise!

After a few days of no improvement, we once again checked her over and found a lump on her rear.  So, off to the vet we went!  She had a lump the size of a baseball on one of her anal glands!  I felt so terrible!  We got a week’s worth of antibiotics and some anti-inflammatory meds and made an appointment for the next week.

At the second appointment, the infection was much better and the lump was now the size of a golf ball.  We got more medication and was told to bring her back in ten days.  The vet is still concerned.  She said the lump doesn’t feel right to her and she wants to see if it will go away.  If not, it will be surgery.

So, in about a half an hour, we are off to the vet again to get the verdict.  Our whole family is so nervous!  I hope it’s not cancer.  The poor girl is only three and we love her so much!  There is nothing like a 31 inch and 142 pound dog sitting on your lap and giving you hugs!

Wish us luck, please, and I will post an update!

  1. Please give Miss Molly a giant hug from me. She sounds like a giant sweetheart! Sorry for the pain she was in, and I hope the vet has good news for you now. 🙂 xxoo
