Dreams

Lately, my dreams have been vivid and so real

I swear I can reach out and touch the people

I dream of those who have left this world

I am so happy to see them and I hear their voices

But, there is always a reason I can’t stay with them

I am filled with pure joy from our reunion

but the joy slowly leaks out of the holes in my broken heart

I wake to an empty room and the reality of my world

Anger, sorrow, and regret fight for dominance 

In the end, I rise and fix my coffee

I am ready for another day
