Favorites

Daily writing prompt
What are your favorite brands and why?

I might have posted about this before, but I can’t remember. So just in case, here is my answer!

I don’t have a favorite anything! This might sound odd, but it is true. I came to realize that I don’t prefer one thing over another and it totally depends upon my moods. I often wondered if there was something wrong with me that I can’t pick a favorite on any topic.

For example, I do like certain shades of blue, but to say it’s my favorite seems too strong of a word. I also love purple, pink, salmon, and other colors. I don’t really see one being better than the others. For clothes, I usually pick dark blues and black for pants (I don’t wear dresses or skirts. I have never in my life felt comfortable in them) as blue and black will match easily with many colors. For tops I pick a variety of colors and patterns.

I don’t have a favorite food. I enjoy many different foods equally.

In the music category, I think I do currently have a favorite which surprises me. I have never been a person who listens to lots of music and I would be hard pressed to recognize many of the famous people. It just wasn’t important enough to me to pay attention to, I guess. I did know who the Beatles were and I liked their music. I liked a few other groups from years gone by as well, but after I got married and had a family, I was so busy I didn’t really keep up with the music industry.

But, I am rambling again! The type of music that I do prefer over the past four years or so is K-Pop. I did a deep dive researching BTS when I happened to see a random video of them. My daughter has loved them since their debut in 2013, so I gave it a shot. I liked the music! I am also a fan of Stray Kids.

The one thing that really annoys me is if I tell someone this, they think I’m a dirty old lady that just likes very young men. Although I am not blind or dead yet, that is not what appeals to me. I like that many of the songs are suitable for any age, and they have meaning and depth (at least to me, they do). A lot of the K-Pop groups are full of energy and are very funny and entertaining to me.

For most things in life, I don’t have favorites. Maybe I just have commitment issues, I don’t know. But, this is my answer to the prompt.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions…

Daily writing prompt
Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.

It’s hard to pinpoint just one decision! Every decision a person makes has a consequence, either good or bad. All we can do is hope we pay attention to the consequences and learn from them.

I did not always learn from them.

That’s life!
